DHA Sheryan Registration Guide 2026: Account, Eligibility, Application, and Licence Activation

Sheryan is the Dubai Health Authority’s online licensing system for healthcare professionals and facilities. Doctors use it to assess eligibility, access licensing services, submit the Get Registered application, receive DHA decisions, track comments, grant employer consent, and access registration or licence records.

The key distinction

Passing the DHA assessment does not create a licence. A doctor must complete the required verification and assessment, obtain a DHA professional registration through Sheryan, and then have that active registration converted into a professional licence by a DHA-licensed employing facility.

What is the DHA Sheryan portal?

DHA defines Sheryan as its digital platform and e-licensing system for registering and licensing healthcare professionals and healthcare facilities in Dubai. The portal contains professional services such as:

  • Self-Assessment Tool.
  • Review Registration Eligibility.
  • Get Registered.
  • Schedule Oral Assessment when DHA requires it.
  • Renew or add and upgrade professional registration.
  • Employer-led professional licence activation.
  • Licence renewal, updates, cancellation, and related services.
  • Application tracking through the Active and Closed Applications tabs.

Sheryan is the official transaction system. A recruitment agency, preparation provider, or DataFlow case page cannot issue a DHA registration or professional licence.

Professional registration versus professional licence

ItemProfessional registrationProfessional licence
What it confirmsDHA has approved the professional for the stated category, title, and specialty. The professional is authorized to practise through a specific DHA-licensed facility.
Who initiates itThe healthcare professional submits Get Registered. The employing healthcare facility initiates activation.
ValidityOne year from issue under the current service description.May be activated for one, two, or three years, subject to the service and facility request.
Can the doctor practise? No. Registration alone does not authorize clinical practice.Yes, after the professional licence is issued and active.

Do not begin work with a registration certificate alone

DHA states that a healthcare professional may practise only after the professional licence is issued. Registration is the first licensing stage, not the final permission to work.

Before creating or using your Sheryan account

  • Use your full legal name exactly as it appears in your current passport.
  • Use an email address and mobile number that will remain accessible throughout the process.
  • Do not create unnecessary duplicate accounts.
  • Prepare evidence for any legal name change before uploading credentials.
  • Confirm the professional category, title, and specialty you intend to request.
  • Review the current Professional Qualification Requirements before paying for verification or assessment.
  • Keep a secure folder containing every document, receipt, case number, and portal notification.

Sheryan-generated identifiers, including the DHA Unique ID, should be copied exactly when required by DataFlow or the Prometric assessment workflow. Incorrect identifiers can prevent records from linking to the correct profile.

How to access Sheryan and set up the account

  1. Open the official DHA website: use the official Sheryan access route rather than a link sent by an unknown agent.
  2. Create or access the DHA account: enter the requested identity and contact details accurately.
  3. Complete account verification: follow the email, mobile, or identity-verification prompts displayed by DHA.
  4. Open the professional dashboard: select the healthcare-professional services in Sheryan.
  5. Review the profile: confirm that the legal name, passport information, date of birth, nationality, and contact details are correct.
  6. Save your identifiers: retain the username, DHA Unique ID, and recovery information securely.

Account-detail corrections

The DHA FAQ states that email and contact details can be changed through the settings page. Some personal details, such as name, passport, nationality, gender, date of birth, or profile picture, may need to be updated through a new licensing application with supporting documents rather than edited directly on the profile.

Step 1: Complete the DHA Self-Assessment Tool

The Self-Assessment Tool compares the answers you enter with the Unified Professional Qualification Requirements. For a GP applicant, select the physician category and the intended General Practitioner title, then answer the qualification, internship, experience, licence, good-standing, and practice-gap questions accurately.

The automated result is preliminary. It does not authenticate your documents and does not guarantee registration. Its purpose is to indicate whether the entered profile appears to meet the PQR and which title may be appropriate.

  • Enter the actual primary medical qualification and internship details.
  • Count only eligible post-internship clinical experience.
  • Do not treat observerships, volunteer work, or clinical attachments as licensed employment.
  • Declare professional registration and practice gaps accurately.
  • Save the completed Self-Assessment result for later linking.

When to use Review Registration Eligibility

Use the formal Review Registration Eligibility service when the automated result is not eligible, the suggested title appears incorrect, or the profile involves an exception that requires documentary review.

The current service lists documents such as:

  • Recent passport-size photograph.
  • Valid passport copy.
  • Educational qualifications.
  • Experience certificates.
  • Professional licences or registrations.
  • Good Standing Certificate.
  • Two-year logbook for surgical specialties where applicable.

Review Registration Eligibility is not the same as Get Registered and does not create a licence. It provides a DHA review of eligibility and the appropriate professional position.

Step 2: Complete registration prerequisites

Before DHA processes Get Registered, complete the prerequisites applicable to the requested title:

  • Meet the current PQR for qualification, internship, experience, professional licence, good standing, and practice history.
  • Obtain the required Primary Source Verification result for qualifications, experience, and registrations.
  • Pass the DHA Computer Based Testing assessment when required.
  • Prepare a valid Good Standing Certificate.
  • Resolve material document discrepancies before final submission.
  • Ensure that you have not exhausted the permitted assessment attempts across UAE health authorities.

DataFlow verification and the CBT may be undertaken in parallel. However, the required results must be available before the Get Registered application can be finalized.

Use the DHA DataFlow Verification Guide 2026 and the DHA GP Exam Topics 2026 guide for the two major prerequisite tracks.

Documents required for Get Registered

The current DHA service page lists:

  • Recent passport-size photograph.
  • Valid passport copy.
  • Good Standing Certificate, valid and not older than six months at the time of application.
  • Two-year logbook for surgical specialties where applicable.
  • Verification results for the qualifications, experience, and registrations required by the PQR.
  • CBT assessment result when required.

DHA may request clarification, additional evidence, re-verification, or documents supporting changed personal details. Upload complete, readable files and ensure that dates, titles, names, and licence periods are consistent.

Obtain the Good Standing Certificate at the correct time. It must be no more than six months old when the Get Registered application is submitted.

Step 3: Submit the Get Registered application

  1. Log in to Sheryan: open the professional dashboard using the correct account.
  2. Select Get Registered: start the professional-registration service.
  3. Link the completed prerequisites: connect the Self-Assessment, PSV, and assessment records where the portal requests them.
  4. Complete every mandatory tab: enter personal, professional, qualification, experience, licence, and declaration information accurately.
  5. Upload required documents: use complete and readable files.
  6. Review declarations: disclose disciplinary action, restrictions, investigations, or other required information truthfully.
  7. Pay the displayed fee: save the receipt and application reference number.
  8. Submit for DHA review: monitor the application and registered email for comments.
  9. Respond to returned comments: make the requested correction and resubmit within the allowed period.
  10. Complete an oral assessment if mandated: registration is issued after successful completion when an oral assessment is required.

Where to check application status and DHA comments

DHA states that application status and comments are available under My Applications, using the Active Applications or Closed Applications tabs depending on the application stage.

SituationWhat it usually requires
Draft not submittedComplete every mandatory field, upload required documents, and submit.
Under DHA reviewMonitor the portal and email; no duplicate application is needed.
Returned for correctionRead each DHA comment, correct the named item, and resubmit.
Conditional oral assessmentUse the enabled Schedule Oral Assessment service and follow the instructions.
Approved or issuedDownload the registration record and proceed to employer-led activation.
Closed or rejectedRead the decision and determine whether correction, review, appeal, or a new application is appropriate.

Portal wording may change. Follow the actual DHA message rather than relying on an unofficial list of status codes.

How to handle a returned application

  • Read all DHA comments before editing anything.
  • Correct only the requested items unless another clear error exists.
  • Replace the incorrect file rather than adding multiple conflicting versions.
  • Use official documents to explain name, date, title, or licence discrepancies.
  • Do not alter or recreate institutional records.
  • Resubmit promptly and retain the updated reference and files.

Inactive applications can be closed or cleared

DHA’s FAQ states that an application may be rejected or closed when the applicant does not respond for more than three months. The Get Registered service also states that drafts inactive for more than six months may be cleared after a 15-day reminder.

When can DHA require an oral assessment?

DHA may require an oral assessment after reviewing Get Registered or an Add/Upgrade Registration application. The Schedule Oral Assessment service becomes available only after DHA issues the relevant conditional requirement.

A doctor should not book an oral assessment independently before DHA mandates it. When required, follow the Sheryan instructions, upload the requested CV, pay the displayed fee, attend the confirmed assessment, and monitor the result in Sheryan.

What happens after DHA approves registration?

When DHA approves the application and any required oral assessment is passed:

  • The professional registration is issued.
  • The approved category, title, specialty, restrictions, or trainee conditions are shown.
  • The professional becomes part of the Dubai Medical Registry.
  • The registration remains valid for one year.
  • An eligible DHA-licensed facility may initiate licence activation.

Review the approved title carefully. A positive DataFlow result or exam pass does not entitle the applicant to a higher title than DHA approves under the PQR.

Step 4: Employer activation of the DHA professional licence

Licence activation is initiated by the healthcare facility, not completed solely by the doctor. The facility selects the active professional registration and sends an activation request. The professional then grants consent in Sheryan.

The current activation service requires items such as:

  • An active DHA facility licence with the relevant service or specialty.
  • An active professional registration.
  • The professional’s consent.
  • Valid malpractice insurance.
  • A valid labour card for non-UAE nationals.
  • Payment of outstanding fines where applicable.

After approval, the professional licence is activated and an electronic licence is generated. Clinical practice may begin only after the licence is issued.

The full sequence is explained in the DHA License Process for Doctors 2026.

Common Sheryan problems and fixes

Only the Save button appears

DHA advises checking that every mandatory field has been completed and every required tab has turned green before submission becomes available.

Dropdown menus are empty

DHA recommends using a laptop or personal computer with a supported version of Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox. If the problem persists, follow DHA support instructions before withdrawing or recreating an application.

Password-reset code is not accepted

The DHA FAQ advises entering the username rather than the email address when requesting a password change.

Email or mobile number has changed

Use the account settings and Edit Personal Information option where available. The new email address must not already be connected to another Sheryan account.

Payment does not proceed

DHA lists Visa and Mastercard credit and debit cards as accepted online payment methods. Check the live checkout, card authorization, browser, and bank restrictions.

Application appears missing

Check both Active Applications and Closed Applications. Also confirm that you are logged into the original account used to create the application.

Frequently asked questions

Is Sheryan the same as DataFlow?

No. Sheryan is DHA’s licensing platform. DataFlow is the authorized primary-source verification process used to verify credentials submitted for licensing.

Can I submit Get Registered before DataFlow is complete?

The current Get Registered service requires the relevant PSV result and CBT result when applicable. DataFlow and CBT may proceed in parallel, but the required outcomes must be available for the registration process.

Does passing the Prometric exam create my DHA registration?

No. Passing the assessment satisfies one prerequisite. DHA still reviews the complete Get Registered application and verified credentials.

How long is DHA registration valid?

The current service description states that professional registration is valid for one year.

Can I practise with DHA registration but no active licence?

No. A DHA-licensed healthcare facility must activate the registration into a professional licence before you practise.

Where can I see DHA comments?

Check My Applications in the Active Applications and Closed Applications tabs, depending on the application stage.

What is the current Get Registered fee?

DHA currently lists AED 200 for all professional categories, with Knowledge and Innovation fees applied at checkout.

Does DHA always require an oral assessment?

No. DHA may require one after reviewing the registration application. The scheduling service is enabled only when DHA mandates it.
