DHA vs DOH vs MOHAP — Which UAE Licensing Exam Do I Need?
The correct UAE healthcare licensing pathway depends mainly on where you intend to practise, your profession and your professional title. DHA, DOH and MOHAP are different licensing authorities and should not be treated as interchangeable.
The Three Main UAE Licensing Pathways
Dubai — DHA
If you intend to work in Dubai, your professional licensing pathway is generally associated with the Dubai Health Authority (DHA).
ExamCure preparation should be matched to both the DHA pathway and your exact profession, such as General Practitioner, Pharmacist, Nurse, Dentist or another healthcare category.
Abu Dhabi — DOH / HAAD
If you intend to work in Abu Dhabi, your licensing pathway is generally associated with the Department of Health Abu Dhabi (DOH).
You may still see the older term HAAD in course names, search results and older resources. HAAD was the former authority name used in Abu Dhabi.
For example, a pharmacist seeking professional licensing in Abu Dhabi should be routed to DOH Pharmacist preparation, not DHA Pharmacist or EPREE.
MOHAP — Ministry of Health and Prevention
If your licensing pathway is through the UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention (MOHAP), choose preparation specifically matched to MOHAP and your profession.
Do not choose DHA or DOH preparation simply because the profession is the same.
Quick Decision Guide
| Where do you intend to work? | Likely authority | Preparation type |
|---|---|---|
| Dubai | DHA | DHA + your profession |
| Abu Dhabi | DOH / HAAD | DOH/HAAD + your profession |
| MOHAP pathway | MOHAP | MOHAP + your profession |
Practical Examples
General Practitioner planning to work in Dubai
Look for DHA GP preparation.
General Practitioner planning to work in Abu Dhabi
Look for DOH/HAAD GP preparation.
Pharmacist planning to work in Abu Dhabi
Look for DOH Pharmacist licensing preparation.
Pharmacist applying for a pharmacy residency programme
That is a different purpose. You may need EPREE preparation rather than a DHA, DOH or MOHAP licensing product.
Licensing Exams and Residency Entrance Exams Are Not the Same
DHA, DOH and MOHAP are professional licensing pathways. EMREE and EPREE are residency-entry pathways. Arab Board preparation is another separate postgraduate pathway. These should not be mixed in the same recommendation.
If You Are Not Sure Which Authority Applies
Before choosing a preparation product, identify:
- The emirate or location where you intend to work
- Your profession
- Your intended professional title
- Whether your goal is professional licensing or residency entrance
- Your authority or exam name, if already known
